0014 Still life of a corner
Loose oil painting of a cozy corner: a desk lamp, potted plant on books, and a green armchair with a striped blanket and pillow.
Close-up of the desk lamp in Still life of a corner, painted with loose, aggressive strokes of white and gold.
Close-up of the lamp; I like how aggressive this is.
Close-up of the side table: a potted plant with pale leaves on a stack of books beside a lamp stand.
Close-up of the side table; experimenting with how much detail I really need.
Close-up of the striped blanket in yellow, white, crimson and teal over the green armchair.

Still life of a corner

Studio notes

This is a painting of the corner of the living room. I applied gesso to this canvas with horizontal strokes and didn’t sand it. The underpainting is burnt sienna diluted with mineral spirits and the stripes are paint mixed with 1:3 parts mineral spirits to linseed oil with a bit of liquin mixed in, applied roughly with a palette knife. The rest is the same ratio applied with flat brushes and blended in some areas.
